Medical Aid Initiative (MAI) is an organization that provides resources to various global health organizations that share the same vision of providing free medical care and health education to nations around the world. MAI collects unused, excess medical supplies from UCLA Health hospitals and distributes them to global health volunteer groups and disaster relief organizations. While US hospitals produce over two million tons of medical waste each year, MAI helps to prevent and reduce waste. MAI's ultimate goal is to help facilitate health care access for those in need through the redistribution of localized and unused medical resources. MAI follows the mission model: Sustainability, Distribution, and Awareness.
